Guided Tours
All
digging and safety equipment will be provided by your tour guide. No minimum
number of people required and all tours are fully insured. Tours are available
from when the snow melts until when the snow falls. Your tour guide uses
his experience and knowledge and will dig for you for the day not for
himself. We either own or have written permission to collect on all these
locations so when you choose Rob Davis and Kamloops

McAbee Fossil Beds
The McAbee fossil beds are located
just west of Kamloops and offer a unique opportunity to travel back in
time to a 50.2 million year old lake bottom teeming with fossils of all
description. Various Eocene Age plants, fish and insects are easily found
and can be identified one of your tour guides or the claim owner, the
resident expert. This location is accessible to all members of the family.

Savona Mountain
This beautiful area just west
of Kamloops offers many sites to collect rocks as well as enjoy the scenery.
Five staked claims provide the traveller a place to collect banded and
moss agates, opals of green, yellow pink, blue and banded brown and geodes
of various sizes, all some of the world's best volcanic silicates. Your
guide and claim owner will identify your finds. All sites can be visited
in one day and are accessible to all members of the family

Scenic Gold Panning
Rob Davis will personally
guide you to one of Kamloops' many scenic gold bearing creeks. Once
you arrive you will be given instruction in traditional methods of gold
panning and a history of the importance of gold in the development of
Kamloops. All safety gear and equipment will be supplied.

Back Valley
30 minutes west of Kamloops,
visitors will be amazed at the ease of collecting at these sites. Agates
can be found in all sizes and colours including the elusive sagenite
agate. Visitors will also find large crystal masses of aragonite that
resembles pink tourmaline. Opal in many colours and quartz crystals
can also be found at here. This coupled with incredible views, an experienced
tour guide and a dry campsite will make for a pleasant trip for all
visitors.

McGilvray Quartz Crystals
Tours to this beautiful part
of the Interior can expect to find quartz crystals in all forms and
sizes from jewelry points to massive crystals. This trip takes you into
an abandoned quartz quarry that was mined in the 1950s for decorative
stone. Very easy access and collecting for the whole family under the
watchful eye of an experienced guide will guarantee you will find that
elusive BC quartz crystal or cluster.

North side of Kamloops Lake
A long-time rockhounding
site on the shores of Kamloops Lake makes this outing an incredible
adventure for the whole family to hunt agates, geodes, ferriarite, calcite,
quartz and amethyst. All of these treasures are easily found on our
claim and the beach and with the many forms of driftwood make this one
of the best tour packages.

Monte Lake
Come and search for the truly
unique Monte Lake eye agate as well as moss agate, datolite, amethyst,
geodes, druzy quartz, prehnite, stilbite, pink chabazite, quartz and
various other forms of zeolite. All sites in the area can be visited
in one day and are accessible to the whole family.

Deadman Valley
This very scenic valley just
west of Kamloops offers many opportuities to collect agates, fossil
wood and jasper. Many different colours of fossil wood can be found
as well as plant, insect and fish fossils. Your tour guide will take
you though the geology and history of the valley and will provide all
collecting and safety gear.
Robbin's Creek - Barnhartvale
Collect the infamous Thompson
Blue Agate and plum and banded agates as well as jasper, opal and geodes.
All these locations are very easy collecting and your tour guide and
claim owner will provide all the collecting equipment and safety equipment
if needed. A very scenic and educational tour for the whole family.
